Lupini History

Due to frequent moves and busy work schedules, we have pursued a conservative and limited breeding program. Our foundation Kees were OFA'd and we have continued that requirement, along with having patellas vet certified. We have had eyes checked,(CERF) since 1984. Our foundation kees were thyroid normal, with the tests being run at the University of Michigan. We do not hesitate to let our best go to the right show home, or to let a good show prospect go to a loving pet home. Although a successful show career is personally rewarding, a long happy life in a safe & loving home is a priority. Our current Kees all descend from Ch Gregory's Pittance of Tryon ROM, our foundation bitch, and her only litter, sired by Ch. Windrift Lover Boy ROM. That litter produced five champions: Ch. Lupini Pretty Boy Floyd (Mykie), Ch. Lupini Mobs Moll (Mouse), Am/Can Ch. Lupini Hit Man (OJ), Ch. Sir Rank Dwarrelwind Lupini (Windy) and Ch. Lupini Lovely Weather (Love). Pitsy's half-brother, Ch. Playmate Tic Tac of Toes is also reflected in some current Lupini pedigrees.

Our bitch line has played an important role in our successes. Ch. Lupini Lovely Weather (Love) remained at home as a devoted companion, and mother of our 2nd generation winners: Can Ch. Lupini Silent Knight, Ch. Lupini Palmetto Pixie, Ch. Lupini Love at Hitide and Lupini Cultured Pearl,(14pts). Pearl's sire, Ch. Woffee Brazen Detonation HOF is a son of Am/Can Ch. Tryon's Beorn HOF ROMX. "Pearl" had a group 3 placement and was 1 pt. short of her championship when a freak accident ended her show career. Her lovely daughter, Lupini Stormy Love Affair (Sweetie), sired by Ch. Lupini Pretty Boy Floyd, is the mother of Ch. Lupini Walk Thru a Storm (Sassy). "Sassy"'s sire is the Dowd's elegant special, Ch. O'Delyn Bet Your Boots HOF.

We are proud of our male line as well, and thank the owners who allowed some lovely ladies to visit. Ch. Lupini Pretty Boy Floyd (Mykie) is the sire, grandsire and g-grandsire of many champions, including regional and National Specialty Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex winners, a BIFuturity winner, numerous group winners, placers, ROM and ROMX dogs and a HOF Granddaughter. Am/Can Ch. Lupini Hit Man's (OJ) litter by Ch. Keeslund's Bonnie Blu Ribbons HOF produced 3 champions: Am/Ch. Hitide Hit Parade, Am/Can.Ch. Hitide TruBlu of Sandant (BJ) and Ch. Hitide Cameo in Silver (Cami). "BJ" became a foundation stud at the Beasley's Sandant kennels in Canada.( "OJ" later joined his son along with a Mykie daughter, Am/Can Ch. Buccaroo Belle of the Bay (Shasta). Shasta became a Canadian champion in her first weekend in Canada, with 2 BBs and one BOS.) We leased "Cami" and bred her to Ch. Keeslund Kameo Kaper ROM, (Trucker). This litter produced 4 champions: Ch. Lupini Diamond Studd, (Plato), Ch. Lupini Gelukskind Amethist(Amy), Ch. Lupini Fire Opal (Opal) and Am/Can Ch. Lupini Sandant Krystal Kapers (Kapers). "Plato" can be seen in the AKC Keeshond Standard tape. "Amy",owned by Jodi Belden had one litter, by Ch. Rodlin's Fuzzy Phantom, son of Ch Curacao's Tough Stuff HOF and a Ch. Playmate Tic Tac of Toes grandson. Her children include Ch. Heritage First Edition and Heritage Lupini Memories, dam of our Ch. Lupini Autumn Heritage ( x Ch. Windrifts Kokomo of Kemont). "Opal" became Bob and Margaret Walker's foundation for their Embers Kennels. "Opal's" only litter was sired by Ch. Designers by Special Request, ROMX, and produced 3 champions: Ch.Embers Multiple Assets HOF, Ch. Embers Preferred Stock, (group I winner) and our own Ch. Embers Lupini IOU (YoYo). "YoYo", bred to Ch. Windrift's Kokomo of Kemont, produced Ch. Lupini Autumn Embers, a multiple breed winner and group placer before he was 1 and 1/2 yrs old. "YoYo" also has a lovely daughter, Ch. Embers Wicked Witch, by Ch. Star*Kees Burning Bush. "Kapers" who became part of Sandant kennels, followed in his g-sire's(OJ) pawprints by going Best of Breed at the Canadian National Specialty in Ontario. His American "CH" was earned in four shows: back to back majors,4pts/4pts/5pts/4pts.

Our current show girl is Lupini Autumn Bonfyre, (co-owned with Lynda Zaraza of Autumn Samoyeds). "Bonnie's" pedigree combines many of our favorite fuzzy people from both sides of Lupini. She currently has 10 pts, including Best of Breed wins over a group placing male special.
